Shepard
I stray. My Shepard calls me back. I try my best to come back home, But I find my feet stuck. I have wandered into quicksand. I am sinking fast. I beg and plead and call for my master. The quicksand rises and rises. Just as the sand reaches my neck I fear I'll be swallowed up. But I am not. My Shepard comes to my rescue. He grabs me and pulls me out. Losing his own balance in the process. He falls into the pit of quicksand. He takes my punishment for me. I worry with tears at the bank. I watch the semi-liquid hopefully. I hang my head, give up, and turn to walk away. Three steps I take before I hear it behind me. A gurgle, a splash! I turn in surprise, And there is my Shepard, glowing and clean! He stands on the bank waiting for me. His arms are stretched open. He beckons me come. With joy I run to Him And give Him a hug! My Shepard is Jesus. He laid down His life. He loved me dearly! Even when I strayed, And at times disobeyed. He always comes back for me. And for that I am greatful to my Shepard.
