The Ice Will Freeze Again
I feel my scars healing Though naught but a small mark, showing the pain I feel the ice melting away Deep in this soul, where I’ve found my happiness What I’ve longed, from the start And in this heart the pain shall melt away I smile, sun comes to view, So beautiful, to heal those wounds So bright and warm, to mend the tear And slowly melt the ice inside. And reveal the smile I have tried to bear through all this time. For when I see this shining gaze I think I feel alright. But spring lasts, not forever But leaves as winter comes again The pain that once melted away Is peeking though my soul These winter winds had never left They never died and I had been a fool just to expect That these tears would seize to fall That the ice would never freeze I know inside of me, I still can feel the breeze against the smiles I once knew Though really what’s a smile, If broken once again As winter takes my soul and rips it from within Again these wounds will bleed Again these tears will fall that once had left me A scar will stay a scar The ice that once melted away Will all come back another day.
