Need To Know
Why Trying to derive meaning from meaninglessness. Comprehending a thing I never believed in. Performing executions within the lines of my Hippocratic oath. Do I save or feed this overdose? Bury feelings under pill after pill. How do you heal an American ill? Lie? Bare truth and grin while basking under Old Glory's shade. Salute during homecoming parades while twenty-two veteran's graves are laid. How can I lay down at night, when I have so much fight? They say make peace with it. Find the reason in it. I could, if I believed it. I could if I didn't know the before and after effects. If I didn't know LT Burke would die just outside FOB Prosperity's gate. Hasn't heaven had enough of angelic recalls? Make sense of it? How do you answer why, when there never should've been a how? Consumed like flesh eating bacteria was inserted in my mind. Thought devoured eating up time. If I could ask, I'd want to more after every answer was given. Perhaps, it was meant for me to get on with living. Perhaps that's what it is. If I believe it, it might make it so... I need to know.
