My Mother Star
Clouds descended at the pinch of midnight sketching a faded portrait that I saw form; my arms perched high to the blood- red sky and the woman that bore me appeared above. I searched for her like a lifetime ; gathering records through ream of files : we connected thrice, her twilight dying, that in a monotone, I still ask why she gave me away in deep reflection. My mother held me, her almond eyes lonely, yet her voice clear in forgiveness , granting our nights with bits of sentiment. How I missed that chance of popsicle rides or childhood doodles…quite late for us to mark breakthrough undone, where dreams could have been fondled in a nourishing way. Every now and then, come late evening when I see my real mother, a lone lady star, this heart bleeds at the thought that I never knew her enough …and like an abandoned waif, I cry, asking heaven that one day, when my time arrives let there be two bright stars playing on coastlines, under rooftops, in the sky. ..................
