Regretting Cake
This may seem odd, but on this take, The only cake I regretted was the one I didn't bake. As a child my mom taught me the art of beating the mix, Showing me the variations that were her little "tricks". The one that I make mention of is one never made, Because before it went into the oven I made a little raid. I licked the spatula, the beaters, the mixing bowl and then the cake in the pan. So the mix never felt anything warmer than my hot little hands. "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" were my watchwords that day, As I wrenched my guts out when I went out to play. Needless to say that I was not the only one whose day was made sad, That mix was supposed to be a Surprise Birthday Cake for my Dad! I was fortunate that mom did not chastise me more for my indiscreet role, I think she felt sorry for me, as I spent the night with my head in the "Bowl". written 8/4/16
