Dragon Day Celebration:Running of the Dragons
I cried: Dragon I beseech Thee… Not to tempt me with your crazy ways! Yet here I am, always… again… caught in your vortex every, single day. Now he wants a statue, made in his own image in the park, forever in flight, A fountain, colored lights, and a spotlight leading to it, would be so right! Just a minor whim, for him, and he wants it… immediately… right away. He IS a Dragon, and we want to keep him happy, so what more can I say? So we told him… IF he could find the money, then it would be, with us, OK. And yes… this set the stage for another of Dragons’ illustrious, crazy days. He decided on a Dragon Day celebration called the ‘Running of the Trolls”. Just like Spain’s famous ‘Running of the Bulls’, with fireworks afterwards. Trolls ran thru the streets, in front of our Dragon. No! This wasn’t a silly jest! And right there, beside him was his, again visiting, little, sweet Dragoness… She’d come with the Las Vegas Dragons, when they’d caught wind of all this. Yep! They wanted in on an event, and also, naturally wanted in on, all the bliss! But the Trolls were easily distracted, by the large crowds, found along the way. It became, instead of the running of the Dragons, the visiting of the Trolls, today. Well, Dragon wanted, what we’d promised, and what he’d wanted, himself. Do tell! So he struck up his mighty flame and chased those Trolls half way to Troll…Well… Yes, he got them going, again, but the older visiting Dragons were, also, inspired! The chase became a full out run, as a fire breathing competitive event, transpired! They no longer found… it fun to be in the: take a picture with a Dragon event. Now, older Dragons are competitive and have a: get angry if we don’t win, bent! Trolls, were quickly, flying over the sides, into the viewers, as havoc did arise. For Dragon had started something, with his cute little flame… not so very wise. Each Older Dragon, chose a Troll of his own to make, go first over the finish line. Now, there was no going back, for those Dragons were not going to tow any line! Firemen lined up, fire hoses drawn, each choosing a Dragon, to put out their fire! Now surely, you didn’t think we wouldn’t be ready for this little, tiny… backfire! After all, this was taking place, in our illustrious and famous, little, Mayhem Falls! And if nothing else, our great firemen: have learned to be quite, fast on the draw! In the end, a bottleneck of downed Dragons, lay at the final finish line, in a pile. The Trolls and Firemen got their pictures taken, feet on the Dragons, trophy style. Dragon and his Dragoness stood triumphantly on top the heap, both smiling wide. This Dragon Day Competition was the best thing ever, in their little Dragon eyes. And it was The Greatest News Day Ever, that the paparazzi had ever, yet espied! As yes he got the statue; it’s fountain, lights, and spotlights… the whole prize! Written 7-24-2016 End rhyme... Light poetry.
