So Daddy Can I Cry
Does she? Does she know? Does she know that the lady in the next bed passed? Are you sure she hears my voice? Remember? Remember me? Does she know I am her daughter? The walls of the hospital surround her Her eyes are hardly open She uses a mask to breathe now So daddy, can I cry? She lies She lies there She lies there day and night on her back Are you sure she knows we’re here? How? How much? How much pain do you think she feels? The voice inside her cries to the world Her feet are cold like ice I was told to prepare for the worst you see So daddy, can I cry? We did We did fight Did she tell you she still loves me? Can you tell me what her heart says? I see I see you Do you know I see how much you hurt? Your words and courage can never hide your pain Your eyes tell it all I feel like I’m losing the both of you So daddy, can I cry?
