My Empty Suitcase
I set out on an adventure I want to collect antiques Things from the beginning of time Items that were unique I left my house, nude body and An empty suitcase in hand Started my walk Across the promise land I skipped blissfully at the beginning My feet became blistered and sore A little girl ran some shoes to me Some clothes from her mothers store I walked miles with a limp For the shoes were a bit petite My suitcase has yet to hold anything A fine gentleman I did meet He noticed a frown Upon my face His dinner table Had an empty space In exchange for a meal I laundered his clothes Grabbed my partial full suitcase He kissed me. I froze. I'm on a mission One of my own I must travel this path Completely alone Days, weeks, and months Passed along the way My suitcase was full I knelt down and prayed Someone saw me, Thought I was in despair Gently touched my shoulder I knew that hand anywhere I smiled at the man For I never forgot his face He sat me at his table He'd followed me to this place Picking up my suitcase He mentioned it's light weight We sat and drank coffee Love was my true fate As I explained to him The items that I sought Was more than I carry More than can be bought He offered to take me home It was his cottage where we went My husband now Was truly heaven sent I keep the suitcase As a reminder of a traveled road All that I was given All I owe Love, friendship, hospitality, Faith, hope, despair ... Every possible emotion Is really in there
