Then he stared at his hands and the wrinkled maps of life trials, Like tree rings, dictating his passage of time all the tears and smiles. I said hello and he gestured me to sit and maybe spend a while, Talking and being sociable and not thinking old people are a trial. So we chatted and I listened and I learned again how to smile, As he shared his life with me I could see it was not all a trial, He raised a family had a wife and served his country for a while, Now he was alone but cared for, had some glory he said with a smile. So now we meet once a week and you know it’s not some trial. To relive his live and happiness gives me the best reason to smile.
