The Ultimate Betrayal
Oh you, my dear companion, who shared in my trials and pain. We worked together so closely, to help fellow humans life gain. I trusted you as my brother, to support me in times of need. We rejoiced together with fondness, as we watched those who listened take heed. My Father had sent us instructions, how to proceed in paving the way and invite all the honest-hearted, on the narrow path to stay. The humble and downtrodden, were ecstatic with joy and awe, as we removed their heavy burdens that priests had laden with laws. These rulers were jealous with envy and surrounded us from all sides, as we continued to uncover their evil, and expose their malicious foul lies. But then your heart turned traitor, and became corrupt with greed, as you began to rob the treasury, stealing from those in need. Your appetite ferocious, insatiable it became, as you let the devil in, and for silver me defame. You plotted to destroy me, along with all my men, your former close associates, who loved you as their friend. You conspired with my enemies and came to bring me down as you marked me with the kiss of death so "tender" and "profound". The army then encircled me, sheathed with clubs and swords in the garden of Gethsemane, the night you betrayed your Lord. June 25, 2016
