Define Me
I don’t know if I’m coming or going Where I am or where I’ve been Some may define me by the skin Or the pain that’s within. How I try to better my peers, But may succumb to my fears. My goals out of reach, My dreams that died. The tears I’ve cried, The reasons why. The country I’m from, The things that I’ve done And when it comes time to perform, How many games I've won. The people I’ve loved, or the reasons I didn’t. The things that I’ve said Confessions never admitted People I’ve hurt, But never meant to Tears I’ve caused, Without knowing what to do. The last name I have, The legacy it carries. The times I’ve tried my best, My results always varied Maybe I defined by the feelings that I’ve felt and the problems in which I’ve dealt? Whatever defines me, I guess it’s my responsibility But how can I define me When my perception of reality Is tainted by deception frequently? So how do I define me? Maybe it’s up to you But can you tell me what is false and what is true? When defining yourself what matters to you? All I know is I could be speaking the truth, But living a lie. As I’m dieing to live, But living to die. If only I wasn’t blinded by society. If only real eyes could realize real lies . We fight to fit in, But we are born to stand out We have minds full of creativity, Yet even with the freedom of speech, We are scared to shout. I rather be resting in peace than living in war So when it’s time for me to lay deceased, I hope heaven opens up when I knock on the door
