Nature Bleeds
On our knees, Hands clasped. Desperation breeds. Running down our faces, Are tears and sweat from toil We belong to these lands, Our roots born from our soil. It is on this day we see, The glory of our nature Though it is decaying Mixed with blood and greed Might we soon see We are part of the vision, Where humanity coexists, naturally. You see it now, all shades of green, Now blood red, fallen leaves A wise old oak tree, with streams of sap You hold your bloodied hand, against The rotting flesh of your ancestor Lying next to your axe. Our feet stand, not on earth But our fellow species Weeping beneath us, Washing the chaos away Cleansing its wounds. Of the waste we consume. No burial for the slain creatures In the wake of our polluted platoon. But hope is not beneath us If humanity grew Like the motherless spawn We are sinking into.
