His Way
I wanted so very bad to do it my way Sometimes paths don't lead to highways Sitting there for hours listening to you play Still being there with you filled my days Sometimes paths don't lead to highways There are times I might have grumbled Still being there with you filled my days Through it all my heart kinda stumbled There are times I might have grumbled Wishing for things that might have been Through it all my heart kinda stumbled On life's stage, I wouldn't steal your scene Wishing for things that might have been Your ways, always made me feel hopeful On life's stage I wouldn't steal the scene Now I wonder why was I so careful Your ways, always made me feel hopeful Until the day you tossed me aside Now I wonder why was I so careful The best parts of me you made me hide Until the day you tossed me aside Sitting there for hours listening to you play The best parts of me that you made me hide I wanted so bad to do it my way For Silent One's Musical Pantoum contest. I tried to write this poem from the perspective of one of Frank Sinatra's wives. Frank was married four times and had six other notable relationships. He truly did it his way, much to the disappointment of the women in his life. The song I chose was "I did it my way" sung by Frank Sinatra.
