Memories of Life
Memories of Life by Robert J (Bob) Moore © (Written-7 Feb 2016) When I woke up this morning, I thought of mam and dad I thought of days that long had gone, and all the times we had I tried to compare by dads life, and how it matched with mine and if he would be proud of me, and how I’d used my time He was born in ’21, depression part of life I was born in ’42, with all the world in strife at 18 he was a soldier, prepared to fight and die at 18 I was leaving England, for a land with bright blue sky At 30 he was off again, another war and strife at 30 I was married, with 4 kids and a wife I think that he’d be happy, with the way I have turned out and if he wasn’t then I know, he’d give my ear a clout He died in 1995, at the age of 74, Alzheimer’s was the problem, his memories were no more with Parkinson’s as well, which daily shook his frame even when we’d visit, he did not know our name Mam followed in 2000, they’re together now I know looking down from heaven, where all good people go When I woke up this morning, I thought of mam and dad tears came to my eyes, when I remembered what we’d had "For, this morning was my birthday and I was 74" <><><><><><><><><><>
