Do the Right Thing
Maybe they’ll sing a psalm Maybe they’ll shed a tear They’ll claim they loved me And held me dear They’ll roll on the floor Maybe out of fear But maybe out of of sorrow That their own tomorrow They’ll curse me if they please Or praise me if it sets them at ease But I tried to do the right thing Some live by the sword, some live by the word Some play dirty, some play fair Some get their gain, some sweat in vain Maybe I will, maybe I won’t live again But I tried to do the right thing I had many valleys, I had my peaks Walked through many alleys for days and weeks But through the years I haven’t undone my fears I don’t know where I’m heading But I hope I did the right thing Some will judge me and call me a fool Point their fingers and splash a load of bull I don’t really care what they say or don’t say It really won’t matter if they’re right or wrong Coz I know I did the right thing I passed through the mountain of love Trudged through the valley of hate But I always pray to the one above To steer my life and control my fate And to help me to do the right thing I know there is no turning back I have no doubts I have no regrets Don’t know what the future would bring But I try to do the right thing I try to do the right thing I try to do the right thing
