Schooled
This saying they have, it's as old as time Used for decades in many a rhyme A simple statement, it holds an ancient truth A teaching, a moral obligation to be instilled during youth Though many forget it and thus do harm Its meaning holds true and still carries on Something that opens the heart and nourishes the soul A lesson thrown upon me at seven years old A motto, a foundation of genuine love The compassion I longed for is what I grew to be made of Something I clung to the moment I was forced to see How cruel the world is for the different, for people like me For twenty four years I've abided it's call In the corner of those who needed it to help them walk tall Today it holds more significance than ever It seeks to comfort me because I have Tourette's and because of this parchment bound by leather Nesting in my empathy and giving me strength Guiding my pen and steadying my way An author, a poet ticcing steady with the clock This teaching of yesteryear remains my rock For myself and for art, for all the futures at steak Who would've thought that to them all it'd now relate? This verse, this testament that I pray we would all live by "Never Judge a Book by Its Cover "... Simply...be kind!
