Husband's Deceit
My wife joined the Army - to help us pay the bills. Didn't seem to care that this really caused her ills. Helped her get in shape before she went away. Even though I know by my side she wished to stay. She wasn't the independent sort - but I pushed her anyway. Wanted to get rid of her - with someone else to play! She wasn't physically fit - she said Basic wasn't fun. Convinced her to stay in - her tour of duty wasn't done. Going on to job placement wasn't quite as bad. Her letters to me showed that she was truly sad. Didn't want to see her though - still fooling around. Being naïve she didn't know I wasn't faithfully bound. When she went to Germany - by her side I went to be. At first she seemed quite excited simply to be with me. With such love in her eyes - couldn't tell her I did wrong. So I kept up a pretense through my charm and song. In '92 she left the Army, Las Vegas for to go. With my Mother we would stay - her love for us did show! Five years later down the line - everything truly fell apart. It didn't even matter to me that I really broke her heart. Footnote: This is a true life event and at the time our marriage fell apart I was glad that I had had three miscarriages during the course of our marriage. Next poem is Wife's Dilema - my side of this. Footnote #2: At the time it devastated me deeply but over time I guess I view it now as a learning experience.
