I Cried Alone
It wasn't destiny or fate that brought us together. There was no roar of thunder, no strike of a lightning bolt, no rain cleared my vision. It was the way you looked at me. A look, a touch...never enough and never too much. Tears I wept were drawn from the well of my happiness from years of loving you. Your name was inscribed upon my heart. We held the hands of each other, not the hands of fate. Our hands lost their grip in the raging wind of a storm. Water rising. . . we needed to seek higher ground. I couldn't climb a mountain while you kept pulling me down. It was then I heard the roar of thunder, lightning struck my heart, and cold rain cleared my vision. When the storm passed you were gone and I was on the mountain top. I cried alone...for both of us. Your name is still written on my heart. That bolt of lightning didn't burn it off Stinging tears could never wash it away.
