Historic Visit
A long time afterward have bloomed the flowers of love at last A long time afterward the pigeon has dropped the letter of love The two nations Cuba and the USA though lie close to each other Nevertheless the ideology-chains incarcerated those letters of love In the air of both states poems and birds did fly quite in plenty But the politics and warships didn’t care a whit about a love link Fragile ego and ruinous self-love raise Hitler in our soul universally Though we wish to keep the windows open to let in breeze of love Still the high walls rise before us making our eyes blind to blue sky Deprived of dews our soul saplings go on crying for rains of love The initiative and the planning have finally yielded the red zinnia Barack Obama opened the barracks to set off all the captive pigeons A red cap, a red ring in throat, orange beak, a bird near my window Sweetly whistles the tune of friendship linking Obama and Raul Even the sky has come down in drizzle to greet this historic union May Obama’s umbrella protect the spring of the “historic opportunity’’ _____________________________________________________________ March 21, 2016
