Just Like You
Just like you I saw a woman today, just like you. Dark hair and almond eyes, with high Cheek bones from the east; slender with Gently curving hips. Just like you. Walking the cobbled streets at night, in the Cool of the northern summer, the crowds Swirl past me; and I glimpse someone With lilting walk. Just like you. It is as though you have come to Haunt my thoughts, like a phantom Living in my neurones; a pleasing memory, that invites a smile. Just like you. Again, but now in a southern summer, Sitting in the sub-tropical soft caress Of evening, amidst the hub-bub of a Busy restaurant, I see a woman. Just like you. Her long dark hair drifts down across her Graceful curves, and your phantom enters My mind; sparkling eyes and crimson lips That part, to softly speak. Just like you. I saw a woman today, just like you; And my eyes mist with tears, That I blink away, holding my head erect In defiance and independence Just like you.
