Say I Love You
Say I love you just one more time Before you abandon this heart of mine Your eyes tell me what your lips cannot say It hurts to watch you leave this way But the Army has called you up And is sending you away To a foreign land and country So very far away I may never see you again My heart is yearning to say I resist, keeping my tears contained On this, your last, states-side day The plane is loading passengers Children, moms and dads And I wonder as you turn to leave If any children we will have? I knew this day was coming When we were married late last year With our soldier friends by our side Our future was certainly clear But knowing something and living it Are rarely ever the same thing A life lesson too difficult to deal with As the tears my eyes do sting The plane closes it steel doors The massive wheels start to move I search every square modest window Hoping, trying to get a glimpse of you I find you easily, at window number three Waving your hand, speaking to me Saying I love you just one more time I know then it shall not break, this heart of mine
