Father's Day
Wandering these long crowded rows, Slowing gazing along the colorful towering shelves, Searching for that perfect something, the thing that will finally win his love Inspecting each item, looking for any type of clue. Ribbon and bows and colorful paper, Sloppy writing, glitter, and nasty taste Happiness and joy mixed with a small heart full of hope "Hello daddy! How was your day?" followed by that constant angry silence, "Daddy I got you something...... I love you" hard eyes giving to a boring, hateful stare 12 seconds of a racing heart then the heavy silence of torn paper laced with feeling, The bouncy pigtails fall in her face as her silent tears roll gently over her too young face Naïve as ever, she silently whispers "I'm still not good enough. Maybe next year will be the special year" For a poor child never realizes until it is too late.
