Day Is Dying In the West
DAY IS DYING IN THE WEST When day is dying in the West I wonder if I did my best To seek the Lord in every way And help show others on this day To show them that the Lord is real And truly cares just how they feel Or did I blindly just ignore The needs of those outside my door The elderly man, stooped and bent Unsteadily walking as he went Did I help him cross the street As he progressed on shuffling feet Or did I look the other way And shake my head in great dismay Wishing he would step aside So I didn't have to break my stride No, I gently took him by the arm To protect him from encountering any harm He smiled and nodded, said thank you son For this kindness you have done I called to mind the events of the day And know I acted in a kindly way I did the things I know were right Now I'll rest well in sleep tonight Knowing I have done my best As day was dying in the West If I strive to be like God's Own Son One day He'll say, "My child, well done!"
