Solstice
All reactions were unlearned, Every time the dials turned, First I froze, and then I burned, Numbness was in turn, returned. Feelings frail as a feather, Noxious, numb, and masked in leather. My hostess was ever clever, Planning every cruel endevour. First I found fear to be worse, Than this indifference I curse, But the heat was next to first, The previous thing thought the worst. Boiling water burned my skin, Dripping flesh that then mixed in, Saliva seeping down my chin, Repulsive reflexes begin. Then my captor cast down sleet, Freezing my freshly cooked meat, I felt a new kind of heat, With my feelings' last retreat. Weeks or months, or maybe years, I was froze, then burnt to tears, Every day without fail, To the very last detail. Then once I could cry no more, drive depleted to deplore, Something new came to abhor, My host let me out the door.
