Incomplete
Today I am the heavy heart the strongest men can't lift Tomorrow I'm the ocean tide upon the shifting sands This morning I'm the gentle stroke against your hair Tonight I am the cracking voice and shaking hands This moment is a feeling that art could never capture This moment is a painting only blind men see It is the fading strum and off-beat tempo only I can hear And the understanding spirit only I can ever be Is your heart a swelling cushion there for me to rest Or a frosty shackled piece within a looming barricade Will you inject me with the venomous lie You'll walk into my burning soul content and unafraid Today I am your frightened doe alone among the flowers Tomorrow I'm a broken promise in pieces at your feet Last night I was a novel with an ending I detest But in this moment I'm but a poem incomplete
