Just One More Day With You
JUST ONE MORE DAY To you, David: Just one more day would never be enough time to read you all the poems I've written in rhyme. I write our memories where no one else can see It's become my way of keeping you close to me Your note, "My Dusty Blue, know what I'd do? I'd still be searching, if I'd not yet found you." I treasure the notes, for they mean so much more. I hold them to my heart when tears begin to pour. Oh, our nights of love, the gentleness of your kiss. I write of the many little things that I sadly miss. If you were here I'd look deep into your green eyes, reflected there would be the love you can't disguise. Those moonlit nights, searching for a falling star, indecisions we laughed over when choosing a car. We'd share the kitchen once more to make a meal. Your favorite recipe to include the kiss you'd steal. Walking the mountain path among the aspen trees, Oh how I long to have one more day such as these. The blanket of snow and the snowballs we tossed You filled my life with laughter, now all that is lost. I miss the sound of your voice, whispering in my ear, "I love you, Linners." Upon my cheek, fell your tear. How wonderful it would be to sleep on your arm, But oh, my love, would it serve to do more harm? Another time of grief and mourning, another goodbye. It would be much too hard to bear for both you and I. I'll keep writing of the memories that lie in my heart to read after my death, when we will never be apart.
