In Memory of You
Today I bade goodbye To a wonderful being My last respect I pay What more is there to say? There he lay In a bed without foam. The once 6ft tall lad Barely 170cm now In a bed made of wood Beautifully designed For the ground to feast Eyes tightly shut Nostrils blocked Lips joined together In happy matrimony Hands straight Legs straight Body lying portrait In nice set of clothes. Everyone seemed to be wondering The same thing as me ‘Could this really be you? Oh! What a paradox life is Who will scold me? Who should we now look up to? Nothing but a fading memory of you Who shall assure us of your return? No one but mere wishes that you really do return Mummy is crying Daddy is hurting I am in shock Ikedi is weeping For you left him all alone All alone to grow into a man Chisom is confused Little Uju can’t comprehend Where it is they said you went to. How could you have left her all alone? She didn’t even get to know you well What a horror movie An unbelievable story to tell No! you can’t be absent! Better make up your mind And get up Just stop this disaster before it’s too late For you to stop the sand On this 18th day of December, 2009.
