Tears Shed At the Pulpit
TEARS SHED AT THE PULPIT Tears shed at the pulpit—twice I shed today, For I am so burdened for those whom I pray. I pray for my family, I pray for those here; I know many burdens, I know many a fear. I receive the phone calls, text messages, too, From those seeking counsel about what to do. I know of the battles spiritually that they fight, I know there’s an answer, and that it is right. I go to the Bible, not with words of men, I tell them God is able to come through again. I warn them of demons Satan may there use To deceive and tell them to their lives abuse. When I hear the music of the precious blood, THAT is when the teardrops flow like a great flood! I know there is power in God’s Spirit here, So I shed those teardrops, knowing He is near. Tears shed at the pulpit? Don’t apologize! I shed tears just like you when I realize All God’s doing for me, all that He has done For one so unworthy, yet trusting in His Son. If I’d stood there with you, I would shed tears, too, For I love you, preacher, for all that you do. Keep those tears there flowing, keep compassion real, For it shows how deeply for us all you feel. --Dedicated to Dr. Tracy Fowler over being so emotional in the pulpit December 6, 2015, and from some of the experiences he had during the previous days that he shared.
