"I'll keep your room light on, till your tour is done!" With a kiss, a final hug and a wave of his hand, The soldier-boy flew off to defend his land; Four years passed after he was reported M.I.A. To yet, another, empty, holiday; Word came he would be honored, for heroic deeds; His family gathered together, to soothe their needs; A prayer, a salute, from the honor guard; The presentation of the medal, was oh, so hard; Then, as they turned to take their seat, Their solemn faces rejoiced, when eyes did meet; There, in the doorway, limping in slow, Was their son; joyful tears, now began to flow!
