Twisted In Time
A child's dream is shattered by reality of life. Parents fight like it's going to be World War Three. Little fingers hide under the white cover sheets. Praying for a miracle to be saved from the angry family. Twisted inside the pain that leaves you without a pulse. Only hanging by a thread before you fall off the edge. Kids at school never see the real truth. The mask you wear hides the pain. Every step walking home from school is a dread. You rather be at school than at home. The screams inside your head never leave. Words hurt more than sticks and bones. Momma always says it's going to be ok. For some reason it never seems that way. When the holidays came so did the fights. Santa never came and neither did the tooth fairy. Growing older time passes but not the pain. You've been waiting for someone all your life to be saved. Feeling like you’re alone on the cold floor. If only you had turned to the side. You would have seen God right next to you.
