Choices
How do you do it? Pick yourself up and remain strong After losing someone you thought You would have forever? Someone whose love was never supposed to end But only get better It’s a hurtful time A pain I can’t describe You were supposed to be the ONE person To always be there for me Yes, you’ve shown me over the years You couldn’t be trusted to protect me from my worst fears I closed my eyes, to be blind to those facts What was in my heart kept me holding on, Thinking you would get your mind right and get back on track It was just a fantasy An illusion I created to escape the cruel reality I’ve done all I could Forgiven as much as I can I see now, there’s no competing with that man You made your choice I’m nothing to you My eyes are open now There’s no more hiding from the truth There are so many things I want to say So many questions I want to ask But the one that keeps wracking my brain is: How could a mother’s love not last?
