Falling Star
I tip my chin skywards The midnight blue consumes my view The wind plays amongst my hair As the noise of silence fills my ears I am alone with my thoughts I close my eyes And become swept away By the peacefulness of nature I am aware of no one Nothing is a concern As I lie flat on the grass Fresh with dew The coolness consumes My body, my mind I am nature’s child Enjoying all that is offered This natural mediation Destroys my fears Relieves me of all burdens My feelings are no longer My confusion- nonexistent I am unaware of the presence Forgot I wasn’t alone Until you trailed my cheek With a tender kiss At once my bond with Nature was broken I was once again Running from the world I felt your touches That evoked new emotions I remembered once more The vivid turmoil The mindless state I was in But those feelings were replaced by others As I looked into the diamond-filled void “See that star?” I asked you hesitantly “It’s falling for you, Just as I am.”
