The Dark Mist Invades
The Dark Mist Invades And that mist wrapped the highest hill Where soft grass feed the deer Tis' Spring morn, still has is waking chill Where cool breeze strays clear. A gentle stream slowing trickles on down Where its many curves wind about Far away, rests people in a sleepy town Where often danger flies on out. And deep within the mighty oak grove below Where critters dance and play Nature's way so often takes its heavy toll Where life or death exist each day. What of the beauty of grass shining dew Where often a black bear trods And man's stupidity, now there are so few Where death within sleep nods. What of the coming stains of bitter pills Where Nature's beauty cast aside All sacrificed for so many foolish thrills Where vainly man's soul can hide. Dark mist invades his bloodied putrid heart Where ignorance eats and invades This the evil embraces in its ravaging start Where dishonor dances in parades. And that mist wrapped the highest hill Where soft grass feed the deer Tis' Spring morn, still has is waking chill Where cool breeze strays clear. Robert J. Lindley, 11-07-2015
