Like Stars At Dawn
She thinks things she shouldn’t, She does things she's not meant to. Silently wondering what you’d do If she was suddenly gone, Poof! Vanished-- Like the stars at dawn, Would you notice? Would you even care in the least? She ponders the thought of ending it all, She would never, But the thought of how she could be there one minute and be gone the next, Intrigued her maybe too much. She wonders how you could be serious Using metal to rust your body, To tarnish your silver soul. She tried once. Placing the blade across skin like pure snow The teeth tickling over covered veins, never digging into her garden of a body The thought that you could do this and never second guess whether it should be done Killed her. How strong you must feel to be able to go all or nothing Maybe the problem is you don’t feel at all? Negative thoughts clogging up arteries. With the only cure being to purge them from your body yourself, Forcing them to be silent by your own hand. She knows the effects of loss and how seeing and breathing become a chore That lacking them causes tracks to skip in your mind made of vinyl She wishes she understood further what went on in the depths of your mind Fears of walking down the street or buying Skittles at the corner store How simple things could make you want to claw at your throat til all the problems flow out. But she can’t, No matter how she tries she won't be able to, For she is just one who thinks things she shouldn’t, And does things she’s not meant to, Just silently wondering if she suddenly left, Like the stars at dawn, If you’d notice and care in the least, Like she would for you.
