What Autumn Means To Me
As I walk along the pathway I feel the warmth Of the sun’s rays, I start to notice my surroundings Of leaves and their many different shapes. Trees start to change their color Into bright red, orange, and golden yellow And even purple leaves Which scatter all around Forming an intricate mosaic pattern. Reminiscing about my childhood I recall how I enjoyed Sitting among the large heaps of leaves On the front lawn, Munching on a handful of pumpkin seeds. And my German Shepherd dogs, Tasha and Rex, Would romp through the leaves And bark with excitement, “Come play with me!” But there is always hope… “An Indian Summer” That lasts until the end of October. This always brightens my day. It is a joy To be surrounded By the warmth of the sun, That penetrates the inner core of your being, Which makes your personality come alive, A moment of self-expression, You can cherish. However, as times passes by, The sun begins to fade, Just as the leaves turn to brown and wither away. Summer is behind us, As autumn creates that omnipotent breeze, The weather changes to dark and dreary, The presence of everlasting harsh snowstorms Which we all endure in the winter months. I look forward to the “first day of spring” …Chirping of the birds at play, Within the trees and bushes. …Watching in delight and amazement The squirrels and chipmunks and their antics. And the glorious days will return Full of sunshine, warmth, and vitality.
