Sunset Zen
Hastily following the winding highway leading out of the city I resolve that I’ve had enough and briefly forsake it like an angry jilted lover As I caress the steering wheel and stretch my neck an unspoken mantra runs through my mind because my day is done and now it’s time to run away and experience that feeling so sublime. The evening tide gently rolls along the inlet bringing a moist cool air with it that intoxicates me as I hastily retreat from the impersonal cut and paste urban arena that I’ve left behind. This is my escape, my place of…re-connection after severing myself from the metropolitan mayhem, and so I understand what is meant by; living in the moment. It’s nearly sunset and the seagulls have muffled their cries, out of respect for what is seemingly considered to be sacred I see young lovers perched on a large rock embracing, and I know what they are waiting for as the fresh breeze greets them and they kiss. I have seen hundreds of sunsets here with amazing colors that almost move me to tears and honestly, no two have ever been the same and for that; I am grateful.
