Desire and Peace
In considering a quote from Lao Tzu in the Tao de Ching, "When there is no desire, there is peace." Peace and Desire Exotic Relations Water and Fire Heads of Nations What! No desire? No arousal, no feelings, no inclinations or quests? Never a healing? No wants, no hopes, no dreams, or wishes? World peace may as well sink with the fishes. No Desire? The thought alone creates insurrection, mental implosion, and inscrutable defections. Imagine the depression no desire would bring. Then loud and clear inhibited progression is the song we'd sing! Ruminate on no desire and it soon grows old. Perhaps better to allow truth to unfold. Breathe in no desire while thoughts spark and sputter. Breathe out peace a confounded mutter. Again and again, breathe in no desire and breathe out peace. Breathe in. Breathe out. Will this never cease? Until the day comes seemingly no different from the others. But today, warrior lays down the sword weeping, 'I love my sisters and brothers.' Perspectives never before entertained ignite. Desire never satisfies the heart but ensures the fight. Something more or better remains at the edge of night. Stillness expands darkness with starry light. Silence drifts up from the heart as knowing insight. 'Trust in me and I shall provide all that you truly desire each day without cease. For when there is no desire, there is limitless peace!'
