The Girl I Used To Be
THE GIRL I USED TO BE "What do you want?" he asked me, The question took me by surprise. I searched my heart for an honest answer, And there I found a mess of lies. Alone, much later, I pondered, Dug deep below years of accumulated debris, Not knowing if I'd find there, The missing girl I used to be. I felt a smile growing wider. As her head begin to rise. She rose and slowly walked toward me, Her eyes pierced through my disguise. Then she spoke to my soul in silence Saying, "I wasn't sure if you'd return, I've been waiting here such a long time , And it hurt to see you burn." I felt like a worm in her presence, Her pure heart submitted and so free That's when I'd the answer to Joe's question, I want....The girl I used to be Inspirations by Joan Donnelly Ellis Sept.25, 2015 (Inspired by Joseph Tomkiell) heart emoticon
