The Worst of All
I thought I was blessed I thought I had been graced Little did I know that I had in fact been cursed Expecting the best, I did get the worst A messenger had come to me To tell me that I had been granted a boon Now, I could hope to grab the moon The moon or any other thing being of great mystery A messenger who presented himself as the divine One who would make sure that everything would always be fine I listened to him, agreed to do as he did bid And got thrown down into a vicious circle, one which I would not be able to rid A messenger of the Devil was he in fact Having chosen me with a lot of tact He hoped to make of me an instrument One which would cause pain to the world, in moments so frequent My soul got tangled in this mess My life became filled with distress Lost was my peaceful rest Lost was the beating warmth in my chest To the Devil now I swore to abide Swallowed I my usual pure pride And lost my beauty Swallowed I even my dignity A being of darkness did I become One who made of Hell her own kingdom Often was I seen in dark places at night With the aim to find the fire of doom, to end the whole of humankind Brought I despair to those who were good Brought I shame to those who were prude Brought I destruction to this world, By opening the gates, the gates leading to the worlds of hell Hope I now never more to be saved Why, a dark being am I, one indeed so brave A dark being made of malice and witchcraft A dark being hiding her true side, that of being a wretch!
