I Tell Her I Won'T Cry
I tell her I won’t cry She knows it’s just a lie I turn away real fast So that the lie will last But then alone at night I pray she’ll be alright And I give in to tears My overflowing fears... I tell her I won’t cry She knows it’s just a lie Few days and she'll be gone She'll take our joy, our song No sweetness of her voice To leave? Her will, her choice No one her bed can fill The house all quiet...still I’ve know it all along But it’s hard to stay strong... I tell her I won’t cry She knows that it’s a lie She’ll always be my girl My precious little pearl The sunshine in my day My strength when skies turn grey My greatest dream come true The sweetest rainbow hue My legacy of love My gift from up above... I tell her I won’t cry She knows….it’s just a lie. Eileen Manassian Ghali My daughter leaves home to continue her studies abroad after having been with us for one whole year, and I’m finding it so hard to let go. I just gave her a big hug and left her room….and I told her I’d not cry. I thought I'd manage it, but....here I am, penning this poem….and tears are running down my face. She’ll soon be 21, but she’ll always be my little girl… It's hard to say goodbye. And I had to have a cry! Footnote: She's got great writing skills. She's written two poems for me on my birthday.
