Beyond Library Walls - Contest
Though inside timber walls air runs cold, Restraints of society seem not to reach, This room, a mausoleum to most, Left untouched by those with other cares, In echo silence one can choose to leave, Not by the knob which once came in, But by mind not so simply encouraged, Yet vastly inspired by parchments reach. Aroma inkling drops of wisdom's delight, Words whispered aloud to follow as if in song, And once just type upon pages left stern, Now drifts through paleness with colors alight, Creating visions and building fond memory, Story more than imagination but now new life, Walk through clouds or set off on high seas, Freedoms spoken in heartbeat romantically. So much more to be said here than beyond, Opinions, matters of ideal, or belief encouraged, Indulgence permitted though elsewhere not, And if fragility crumbles this vellum and fray, Save a quill for adventure in creativity's sake, Let mere thought otherwise held on your tongue, Slip through pursed lips onto not just paper, But to the heart of another for centuries to come.
