You start out by saying, “Sorry,” ‘Cause you’re trying to be mature, But the rest of it just won't come out, And you’re feeling insecure… You throw away your fears, And express the rest in tears. You know what you did, And you know that you were wrong. You've let your feelings out, You know that you've been strong. You pray she understands, Your punishment is in her hands. You regret those things you've said, You say things when you’re mad. But you've made matters better now, And for this, your mom is glad. She gives you her forgiveness, And so your guilty feelings grow less. So when your mother scolds, And when she starts to yell, Just know it’s ‘cause she loves you, In case you just can't tell. So when you feel like you’re in a ditch, Remember, “Tough love can be a – well, you get the point I’m trying to pitch!”
