Manic
It's 4:15 am Not a wink of sleep again She's not even tired Not scared she'll get fired Missed work for 2days straight Made no effort to even show up late She doesn't even notice this trend It happens from time to time, again and again She knows that she'll be just fine She's queen of the universe, at least in her mind She's eaten one meal in the last 48 hours She feels like she's higher than the Eiffel Tower Will anything get in her way? She could build Rome right now, in a day Thoughts racing, so many ideas So called friends who never come near Not since the diagnosis, not that they'll say She knows that's the reason they now stay away Some tell her it's fake and she doesn't need meds They tell her to just try harder, it's all in her head It IS in her head, she's seen the scans of her brain She doesn't understand why people think she's insane She knows she should stop, but has no desire Petal to the metal while there's still air in her tires She hates when this all comes to an end When she has to enter the "real world" again Will this time be 2 weeks or only 5days Will she wake up at home, or in the hospital, confused and dazed She'll enjoy it while she can, she's having so much fun Like Icarus, it'll last until she gets too close to the sun So for now she's confident and cool amidst everyone else's panic She's queen of the world, she's totally manic
