Torn
Torn I have gone through life all broken and torn Not by my clothes but by the heart I’ve worn I think I’ve grown numb to the cuts that they leave And manage to filter only the good I receive Whilst kindness has not hit me in waves I have grown strong and I have been brave My wounds are now scares I proudly wear For it made the person that can give and share I have been beaten and I have been cursed There have been knives and there has been worse I have seen sadness, sorrow and blame I have been to the extremity of shame I have felt crazy, depression and fear Yet I have made it through all of these No longer do these things hold me down No longer do they bring me sorrow I pity those who make me their prey Their efforts are in vain They can no longer hurt me I no longer feel the pain
