Voices On the Wind
Voices on the Wind By Chad E. Decker (6/23/1994) On a cool spring day,When I was but a young boy, I heard a voice that was carried upon a soft ocean breeze. It said to me, “Ye shall journey to a place not to far. There you shall find a woman more beautiful than the stars in the midnight sky that never fades away.” “And how will I know her?” I asked. “For there are many beautiful women.” “Thou will know her by her voice. For it is as strong as a mountain, yet as soft as a light rain that taps upon rose petals – calming the raged, strengthening the weak, and soothing the hurt.” “But where shall I go to find her, in which direction?” I persisted. “Thou shall just go, and trust that thy love will guide thee.” When the wind ceased to stir, I went into my home to ponder upon these words. Now, many years later, after journeying far and wide, meeting many people; I know now that the woman I have so much longed to meet … was my mother. As I look at her now, I know that she is as beautiful now as she was then. To this day, her voice can calm my anger, strengthen me when I feel weak, and soothe my pain when I feel hurt. I just wish, now, I could have realized, then, that I had only to look through that screen door.
