Mother, Daughter
Very few the treasures In my life I held so dear. So very few the moments When the sacred was so near. It was sacred when I held you For that first, intense embrace. I was awestruck when I saw the way The Savior graced your face. Your eyes…your hair, Your skin, your toes. The perfection of your form And the cuteness of your nose. Darling, as the years roll by, Our lives will start to change. Letting go is hard at times, But I am with you through the pains. I’m part of you, you’re part of me And together we are bound To lift each other up Until in heaven we’ll resound: A song of thanks and worship That God gave us to each other. My girl with needs uniquely met By only one…her mother. One day you may also be A mother so beguiled. And you will know these words are true, Of how a mother sees her child.
