Just Another Poet
Just Another Poet I sit alone in shadows and pray someday you know it. My heart is on the line and I'm just another poet. Writing lyrics made for songs about the days gone by. Sharing laughs along the way and making people cry. Somewhere deep inside of me remain the words unspoken. I won't deny or even try to hide my hearts been broken. There were times my soul would bleed I tried so hard to heal it. But you don't know the choice I made the day I chose to feel it. Broken in most every way it felt like I was dying. There were some that I still loved that laughed as I was crying. If they ever cared at all they made sure not to show it. That's the day I crossed the line to just another poet. I wept and wept a bleeding heart I had a broken soul. Then it seemed a switch was flipped and heaven took control. Suddenly the pain was gone like stopped while in mid fall. Liberated is understated I couldn't feel at all. I made it through that day okay but something wasn't right. There would be a choice to make somewhere in the night. I questioned everything I knew and cards that I'd been dealt. I knew I could not live my life without the pain I felt. In brokenness and honesty I faced the things I lack. I whispered I had made my choice and the pain came rushing back. Two years on end I sat alone yet planted just one seed. Defending my own heart and soul and their right to bleed. Now hope and healing sometimes grows where no one else would grow it. I'm thankful what God made of me I'm just another poet. Edwin C Hofert
