Hurt
Hurt is being broken, spreading myself too thin & sleeping out of exhaustion in a drunken stupor. Feeling No One reaches out a hand To someone who tried Her best. Done is the way I felt when you were begging me, "please don't go." I Packed my bags after you betrayed My never-wavering trust. Regret was painted on my face, The next time I saw you it was me who apologized. Because you were in a box and I never returned your last call. Being misunderstood with every word, When I'm just trying to pay My respects at your funeral. Embarrassed, when I was crying in the closet at work wiping my eyes and returning to Care for a never-ending line of patients Healing is a deep cut in my heart That was carved as a child with a sick family member that we were told would never heal My soul is truly at ease Every time I see his next success Happiness is a way of giving up On sorrow Adulthood is realizing I have to put myself first. Determined is how I feel about avoiding the negative spaces in the bottom of a bottle. Hurt is someone I no longer want to be.
