First Thoughts
Our first thoughts in the morning When the sun is on the rise, Need always be of Jesus, As God's daylight fills our skies. It's in these quiet moments, Just before we start the day; We ask that He please walk with us, Lest from His path we stray. As the sun climbs toward its zenith And we pause from toil to rest; Think of this . . the bread we break, Is ours at His behest. Remember to remind ourselves, As we speak to God above; How grateful we are for His care And thankful for His love. Our last thoughts in the evening When the sun has left the day And the night is dark and quiet, As we kneel to Him and pray. To thank Him for so many things Would take the night . . it's true: The sun would shine on another day, Before our prayers were through. It's then we need to tell Him, That we know He suffered so. And speak of how we care for Him, Far more than it may show. To hold Him in our loving thoughts, As we settle into sleep. And know full well that He's nearby, Our souls now His to keep.
