Bridge I Call Forgiveness
Bridge I Call Forgiveness I stand looking at this river made from tears I cried. At one time just a trickle has become the great divide. Across this raging river I see the life I long to live. This bridge that I must cross and those I can't forgive. All of those that one time hurt me and caused my heart such pain. Still somehow they linger in the scars that still remain. Though far away from me for now each time they draw much nearer. Each time I see the scars when I look in the mirror. I tell myself that I'm okay I say that they don't matter. Yet still echoes from their laughter when I watched my dreams shatter. The pain one time inflicted and the burden of this sorrow. I find I am not strong enough to carry it tomorrow. So for now with head held high I forgive them one by one. Praying it's all forgotten before my life is done. With scars left as reminders of lessons yet to learn. Knowing this bridge I call forgiveness will be the hardest one to burn. Edwin C Hofert
